Lyft Direct

Lyft Direct is a business debit card and bank account designed for Lyft drivers, and gives you access to:
  1. Instant payouts: Get paid instantly after every ride with no payout fee.
  2. Mobile banking: Make deposits, pay bills, access free and low-fee ATM withdrawals, transfer funds, and more.
  3. Cashback rewards: Earn cashback rewards on gas when you pay at the pump, public EV charging, select restaurants, and grocery stores.
  4. Savings and budgeting: Automatically deposit earnings into a high-interest savings account and create a budget in the app with spend insights. Also, eligible drivers can access $50 to $200 in Balance Protection to cover unexpected purchases.
Lyft Direct transfers your earnings with no payout fee. Express Drive renters will receive instant payouts once their weekly rental fees are covered.
We work with a company called Payfare to provide Lyft Direct. You’ll need to complete an application to get a Lyft Direct business debit card and bank account.

Applying for a Lyft Direct business debit card
To apply for a Lyft Direct business debit Mastercard®:
  1. Open the Lyft Driver app main menu, then tap ‘Account’.
  2. Tap ‘Pay and tax info.’
  3. Tap ‘Set up Lyft Direct.’
After you confirm your personal info, Payfare will run an identity verification check. If Payfare can't confirm your info, they'll contact you for extra documents to finish your application.
Note: This isn’t a background or credit check, and it won't impact your credit.
You’ll gain access to a virtual card as soon as you’re approved, and you’ll receive a physical card in the mail as well. You should receive your physical card within 5-10 business days after your approval.
Even if you haven’t received your physical card yet, you can add the virtual card to Apple Pay or Google Pay for immediate use.
You can take up to $200 cash back with purchases for no fee at most grocery stores and pharmacies. Cardless ATM withdrawals are also available (fees and limits apply).
By applying for Lyft Direct, you agree to Lyft Direct Rewards Terms and Conditions.
Activating your Lyft Direct business account
Once approved, you can link your Lyft driver account to your Lyft Direct business account by downloading the Lyft Direct app.
You’ll be asked to enter the same email and mobile number that’s on your Lyft account.
Payfare will text you a verification code so you can link your Lyft account. You’ll never be asked to share your verification codes or passwords with anyone.
You can change your phone number later after you’ve set up your Lyft Direct business account.
Setting up Lyft Direct payouts
You’ll automatically start receiving your Lyft payouts to your Lyft Direct business account once you’re approved and logged into your Lyft Direct app.
Download the Lyft Direct app to get immediate access to your virtual card and start receiving your earnings instantly after every ride.
Payouts to Lyft Direct may be delayed:
  1. If there’s a system outage.
  2. If there’s an ongoing investigation into your Lyft Driver or Lyft Direct business account.
  3. Depending on when your rider chooses to add a tip after the ride is completed.
To turn instant payouts on or off:
  1. Open the Lyft Driver app main menu, then tap ‘Account.’
  2. Tap ‘Pay and Tax Info.’
  3. Tap ‘Lyft Direct.’
  4. Turn on or off.
Using your Lyft Direct business debit card
You’ll gain access to a virtual card as soon as you’re approved, and you’ll receive a physical card in the mail as well. You should receive your physical card within 5-10 business days after your approval.
Even if you haven’t received your physical card yet, you can add the virtual card to Apple Pay or Google Pay for immediate use.

To view the virtual card in your Lyft Direct app:
  1. Open the Lyft Direct app, then tap 'More.'
  2. Tap ‘Manage card’ from the menu.
  3. Tap ‘View virtual card.’
Once you receive your physical card in the mail, you’ll have to activate it before you can use it.
To activate your physical Lyft Direct business debit card:
  1. Open the Lyft Direct app.
  2. Tap ‘Manage card’ from the menu.
  3. Tap ‘Activate your physical card,' then either scan the QR code on the card carrier or manually enter the card details.
  4. Create your PIN.
You can also select ‘Report a lost or stolen card’ if your Lyft Direct business debit card can’t be recovered or was never delivered. If reported lost or stolen, you can expect a new card within 5-10 business days.
Cashback rewards and discounts
Cashback rewards
With your Lyft Direct business debit card, you can earn cashback on qualifying purchases at select locations:
  1. Up to 10% on gas when you pay at the pump and up to 12% on public EV charging for top drivers.*
  2. 5% on dining at select restaurants.
  3. 1% on groceries.
*The cashback amount for gas and public EV charging is determined by your Lyft Rewards tier:
  1. 10% on gas when you pay at the pump and 12% on public EV charging cashback for Elite drivers
  2. 7% for Platinum drivers
  3. 3% for Gold drivers
  4. 2% for Silver drivers
  5. 1% for all other cardholders
Earn an additional 1% at select locations with Mastercard Easy Savings.
You can also search for eligible places, track your reward history, and redeem rewards.
Note: Cash back redeemed in the Lyft Direct app will go to your Lyft Direct card.
Cashback eligibility
You won’t be eligible for select cashback offers if you don’t have a payout to your Lyft Direct account within the past 30 days.
You’ll instantly become eligible again once you receive a payout to your Lyft Direct account.
Payments via third-party apps aren’t eligible for cashback. Use your Lyft Direct business debit card to pay.

Drivers who use Lyft Direct can get exclusive discounts with our auto service partners.
Jiffy Lube
Show your Lyft Direct business debit card to get $15 off the purchase of a Signature Service® Oil Change and tire rotation.
National Tire and Battery and Tire Kingdom
Show your Lyft Direct business debit card to get one of the following discounts:
  1. 5% off tires
  2. 10% off services
  3. $16 off a conventional oil change
  4. $15 off a full synthetic oil change
Pep Boys
Show your Lyft Direct card to get 20% off retail purchases and services at Pep Boys locations.
Wellness perks by Avibra
Wellness Perks by Avibra offers health and financial resources to active Lyft Direct users. To be considered active, you must have received a payout to your Lyft Direct business debit card within the last 60 days.
Active Lyft Direct users can enroll in one of the following Avibra Wellness Perk packages:

Savings and budgeting perks
You now get additional savings and budgeting perks with Lyft Direct such as:
Balance Protection
Eligible drivers can use Balance Protection to cover transactions that exceed their account balance. Your Balance Protection will be repaid by ride earnings and any other deposit to your Lyft Direct business account.
Note: You’ll only be able to use Lyft Direct as your payout method while Balance Protection is enabled. Balances must be repaid within 90 days.
To be eligible for Balance Protection, you must have:
  1. Silver tier or higher.
  2. At least $700 in Lyft Direct payouts within the last calendar month.
  3. Not defaulted in the Balance Protection repayment.
  4. Received a Lyft Direct payout in each of the last 3 calendar months.
  5. No Lyft debt (ex. any unpaid Express Drive costs).
Lyft Direct savings
You can automatically add a portion of your earnings to a high-interest savings account.
Spend insights
You can set budgets by category and track your spending.
Free and low-fee ATM withdrawals
You can access over 20,000 no-fee ATMs across the country for no-fee withdrawals.
Go to the Lyft Direct app to find a qualifying ATM using the ‘Free withdrawals’ filter.
You can also make ATM withdrawals without your physical card for a fee of $2.50 per ATM withdrawal.
Cash deposits at ATMs
You can deposit cash into your Lyft Direct business account at participating ATM locations for a fee of $3.95.
Go to the Lyft Direct app to find a qualifying ATM using the ‘Cash deposit’ filter.
Note: Limits apply and incomplete or unauthorized transactions must be reported within 10 days to start a claim.
Lyft Direct business account fees
There are fees for some value-added services available through Lyft Direct:
  1. $1 fee for digital personal checks, including postage
  2. $2.50 fee plus extra surcharges at select ATMs
  3. $2.50 per cardless ATM withdrawal
  4. 1.75% per transaction with a minimum fee of $1.25 for instant transfers to a debit card in your name
  5. 3% foreign exchange fee
  6. $3.00 per month for dormancy after 12 months of inactivity
  7. $5 for the return of account balance
There are no overdraft fees with your Lyft Direct business account.

Viewing or updating your info
You can keep your contact info updated in the Lyft Direct app.
To update your contact info in the Lyft Direct app:
  1. Open the main menu, then tap ‘More.’
  2. Tap ‘Edit’ near your profile details.
  3. Follow the prompts to change your contact info.
To view your Lyft Direct account and routing number, tap ‘Main account,’ then tap ‘Account info.’ You can also tap on the gear icon to see and download your monthly account e-statements.
To reset your debit card PIN, tap ‘Manage Cards’ then ‘Change your PIN’.
Issues
Lyft Direct is a business account bank account and is separate from your Lyft account.
Go to the Help articles in the Lyft Direct app for questions about your Lyft Direct business account, card, or app. This includes questions about how to order a new card, or questions about unauthorized transactions on your Lyft Direct business debit card.
Contact Lyft Driver support if you need help with your earnings on Lyft, your driver account, or the Lyft driver app (such as missing Lyft earnings or a wrong payout amount).
Transaction disputes and refunds
Unauthorized transactions must be reported within 10 days of the initial unauthorized transaction to start a claim. Keep your PIN and card details confidential. Zero Liability Protection doesn’t apply if a transaction is made using your PIN.
Go to the Help section in the Lyft Direct app to call Lyft Direct Support for questions about unauthorized transactions on your Lyft Direct card.
Problems with instant payouts
Your payouts will automatically deposit to your Lyft Direct business account after each ride is completed if your payout method is set to Lyft Direct.
Funding may be delayed:
  1. If there’s a system error.
  2. If Express Drive rental fees are due.
  3. If there’s an investigation about the security of your account.
